Children

Child therapy sessions for ages 3+ are tailored to your child’s needs, interests, developmental stage, and processing style. Typically this looks like some combination of playing, talking, and learning and practicing a new skill in a fun way. Areas of specialty include ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, adoption, attachment, behavioral concerns, neurodivergence, and emotional regulation.

When working with children, parents are a vital part of the therapeutic process. Because of this, I ask that we start by having an intake session with the parent(s) only, and continue to have a parent session approximately every 4-6 weeks. Parent sessions will focus on providing tips and tools to use at home to reinforce the work in therapy. Frequency of parent sessions may vary depending on factors such as child’s age, frequency of sessions, severity of challenges, etc. Parent sessions can be in addition to or in replacement of your child’s regularly scheduled session.

Teens

Whether working through a specific challenge or just providing an opportunity to process the normal difficulties of being a teen, therapy can be vital for mental health during adolescence. I’m able to provide a relaxed, non-judgemental environment for teens to safely explore and work towards personal growth.

Family Therapy

Family Therapy can help to facilitate emotional connection, communication, and increase positive interactions. Family therapy might take place as part of the therapy plan with children and teens, or you may be a family of adults seeking to improve your relationship dynamics.

Adult Individuals

Life is complicated. You may be wanting to start therapy to process a specific trauma, challenge, or life transition. Or you may be wanting to utilize therapy for mental health maintenance to provide a healthy way to work through the normal challenges that come up for all of us. Although our friends and family can be well-meaning supporters, it can be helpful to process life events with someone who is trained, has a neutral perspective, and will give us concrete, evidence based tools.

Parent Consultations

As parents, you are on the frontlines every day, supporting your child or teen when they are in the middle of a crisis, or working through everyday challenges. Because of this, sometimes the most valuable therapeutic work occurs during parent-only sessions. Many parents find that focusing on parent consultations brings the greatest value and change to their family. Parent consultation sessions focus on providing you with the tools to feel confident and successful in responding to your child’s big feelings, and/or their developmental and attachment needs. Sessions are tailored to your child and family’s specific concerns.

Any parent may wish to focus on parent consultation, but for parents of children under 3, we will focus on parent only sessions. If there are multiple parents or caregivers in the home, it is best if both/all parents are able to attend parent sessions.
